Daiwa 26 Certate SW Large Sizes: Saltiga’s Power Drive Design (8000–20000)

minagiman

Daiwa has released the large sizes of the 26 Certate SW, and the big news is that they use the same Power Drive Design as the flagship Saltiga. Compared with the 21 Certate SW, cranking power is up, the reels are highly water-resistant, and they are packed with Daiwa’s latest tech.

Power Drive Design

Oversized Power Digigear: larger, thicker gears with optimised tooth faces that stay tight under heavy load.
Roller Power Oscillation: about 30% more efficient oscillation (the mechanism that moves the spool up and down), for a lighter start and stronger winding with less power loss.
Monocoque body: with no screw space needed, the drive gear can be made as large as possible for more rigidity.

Rotor, line handling, sealing and drag

ZAION Power Drive rotor — rigid yet low-inertia.
Crank Power Bail — reliably guides line to the roller even under tension.
Tough Line Roller System — for a light wind.
MAGSEALED (pinion) and MAGSEALED line roller — keep out salt crystals and debris.
ATD TOUGH — carbon-washer drag with smooth start-up and tracking.

Which size?

8000–10000: heavy shore jigging and offshore casting for yellowtail and kingfish (hiramasa).
14000: big-game casting and jigging for large kingfish and tuna; the XH for fast pickup.
18000–20000: tuna and the biggest pelagics.

Minagiman’s take

Getting Saltiga-style Power Drive Design at Certate SW pricing is the headline. If you are moving into big-game casting or tuna and do not want to go straight to a Saltiga, the 26 Certate SW large sizes are the obvious step.
