Shimano 26 Crossmission SS: One Boat Rod, Two Tips

Shimano 26 Crossmission SS solid and tubular tips
minagiman

The more types of fishing you do, the more specialist rods you end up owning. Shimano’s 26 Crossmission SS tackles that problem: one offshore rod that covers light jigging, tai-rubber (sea bream), tachiuo tenya (ribbonfish), squid and more.

Key features

  1. Tip Switch System. Each rod comes with both a solid tip and a tubular tip that swap easily. Use the solid tip for tai-rubber and dead-stick presentations; use the tubular tip for light jigging and casting.
  2. High-modulus blank, grip-joint 3-piece. The offset three-piece layout gives a near one-piece feel and a clean bend. The slim blank is easy to handle, and the solid tip uses Tough-Tec ∞ (Infinity) for strong breakage resistance.
  3. Advanced reel seats. Baitcasting models get the Technical Holding Seat with a flat underside that sits snugly even with a light grip; spinning models get the light, sensitive CI4+ Perfection Seat XT that transmits subtle current changes and short bites.

Who it suits

  • Anglers who want to try several boat techniques without buying a rod for each
  • Travellers who want one compact rod for charter trips
  • Beginners in offshore fishing who are not yet sure which style they will focus on

Minagiman’s take

Two tips in one rod is a smart, practical idea — solid for “stop and wait” techniques, tubular for active jigging. At around 32,000–33,500 yen it is excellent value for an all-round boat rod.
