Daiwa 26 Overthere SX: Daiwa’s Lightest Surf Rod Blank Yet

Daiwa 26 Overthere SX surf rod
minagiman

Daiwa’s Overthere is one of the best-known surf rod series in Japan, and the 26 Overthere SX brings the lightest blank of any Daiwa surf rod. Packed with AGS, SVF carbon and other Daiwa tech, it targets what matters most on a long day of casting: sensitivity, control and low fatigue.

Five key features

  1. Lightest Daiwa surf rod blank. SVF carbon delivers lightness, power and a slimmer blank at the same time.
  2. AGS (Air Guide System). Three carbon-frame AGS guides on the tip — about three times stiffer than titanium. Less tip weight on a long rod means a crisper swing, longer casts and better sensitivity.
  3. X45. 45° bias-wrapped carbon stops twisting during casting, lure action, hooksets and fights, so you keep full power even with a big yellowtail on.
  4. V-JOINT. Bias-structure carbon at the ferrule gives a smooth, one-piece-like bend.
  5. AIR SENSOR SEAT. A light, strong, sensitive carbon-fibre reel seat designed for this rod.

Minagiman’s take

In surf fishing, you cast hundreds of times a session, so every gram of rod weight and every bit of tip heaviness adds up by the evening bite. The SX goes after exactly that. If you are choosing a serious surf rod in the 50,000-yen range, it should be near the top of your list.
