Long jigging sessions can leave your arms and whole body aching. For anglers who want to go deep into jigging, the Saltiga series is the obvious name — and the 25 Saltiga LJ EX is the flagship of Daiwa’s light jigging rods.

Supervised by Daiwa tester Naoki Sumizawa, it pursues three goals: comfortable jerking, the power to go head to head with yellowtail, and fast response to a wide range of techniques. There are five models: four baitcasting and one spinning.

Highlights

  1. Power from advanced materials. SVF Nano Plus (M40X) carbon combined with Megatop R (T1100G solid) — a first for a Daiwa jigging rod — makes a slim blank that is very strong and rebounds hard. X45 Full Shield virtually eliminates twisting, so no power is lost when fighting big fish.
  2. Sensitivity from AGS + CWS. AGS Type R carbon guides, with Daiwa’s Carbon Wrapping System reinforcing the guide wraps, for low weight and high durability.
  3. Comfort and design. The Zero Seat reel seat on baitcasting models stays comfortable over long days and suits many grips; the spinning model uses the light, strong, sensitive Air Sensor Seat.

Minagiman’s take

Depending on the target you may need long jerks or many repetitions, so a rod that jerks easily matters. The Saltiga LJ EX puts Daiwa’s best materials into a light jigging rod built to keep you fishing well all day — a serious tool for anglers who want to master light jigging.
