Daiwa Saltiga October 2026 Lures: Bull Chopper, Paltier Jig Long and New Flosser Colours
Saltiga is Daiwa’s offshore brand – the name every jigging and casting angler aspires to. In October 2026, Saltiga releases a set of new lures at once: the Bull Chopper semi-deep jig, the thin, long Paltier Jig Long, and new colours for the popular Flosser popper. Each targets completely different fish and fishing, so here is the overview first.
| Lure | Type | Weight / size | Main targets | List price (excl. tax) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bull Chopper | Short jig for bait-reel jigging | 80-260 g | Semi-deep bottom fish | 1,050-2,450 yen |
| Paltier Jig Long | Thin long jig | 150-220 g | Pelagics (expected) | 1,500-2,000 yen |
| Flosser (new colours) | Popper | 170F, 200F | Yellowtail amberjack, tuna, GT | 3,000-3,400 yen |
Also released in October: the Saltiga Blade Jig SS for Spanish mackerel. Note: the English names here are romanised from Daiwa Japan’s catalogue; spellings may differ in export markets.
1. Saltiga Bull Chopper – a “pilot jig” for semi-deep water
The Bull Chopper is a lead short jig for baitcaster jigging, supervised by Kazunari Shimizu. Daiwa positions it as an all-rounder pilot jig: the first one you drop, to read current speed and how active the fish are. “Bull” comes from a dartboard’s bullseye – the idea that you can work it exactly as intended.
Specification
| Weight | Length | Hook size | List price (excl. tax) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 80 g | 110 mm | #1-2/0 | 1,200 yen |
| 100 g | 117 mm | #1-2/0 | 1,300 yen |
| 120 g | 125 mm | #1/0-3/0 | 1,500 yen |
| 150 g | 134 mm | #2/0-4/0 | 1,650 yen |
| 180 g | 142 mm | #2/0-4/0 | 1,850 yen |
| 200 g | 148 mm | #2/0-6/0 | 1,950 yen |
| 230 g | 153 mm | #2/0-6/0 | 2,150 yen |
| 260 g | 159 mm | #3/0-6/0 | 2,450 yen |
The Keimura Full Silver colour is 150 yen cheaper at each weight. Eight weights in six colours – 48 items in all.
Features
- Little Front Balance (55:45 front to rear) – stable on a tight line, easy to set a jerking rhythm, and it turns sideways easily on the pause.
- Centre keel – suppresses the wobble short jigs are prone to.
- Round body with softened edges – slips through the water, yet stops sharply.
- W Glow – on the orange, bull-pink and purple colours, both side edges glow.
Colours: ML Orange Zebra Glow, ML Akakin Zebra Glow, ML Bullpin Zebra Glow, ML Zebra Glow, ML Purple Zebra Glow and ML Keimura Full Silver – built around zebra glow for dark deep water. Daiwa’s gallery shows John Dory, sawedged perch (ara), Pacific halibut over 30 kg, yellowback seabream and blackthroat seaperch (akamutsu): semi-deep to deep bottom fish are the main targets.
Short jigs are good at turning sideways on the pause to create a “bite window”. Bottom fish react to things falling from above, so the shape makes sense.
vs Saltiga 73 Chopper
Also supervised by Kazunari Shimizu, the 73 Chopper is a semi-long jig (150-300 g) with a 7:3 front balance. At 150 g it is 157 mm against the Bull Chopper’s 134 mm, so the Bull Chopper is shorter and more centre-balanced. The 73 Chopper is front-heavy and lively; the Bull Chopper stops and turns sideways on the pause. Read current and response first with the Bull Chopper, then switch to the 73 Chopper as conditions demand.
vs Shimano Ocea Stinger Butterfly Easy Pebble
The Easy Pebble runs from 100 to 900 g and is strong at slow presentations. The Bull Chopper is the pilot for searching at a steady jerking tempo. Slow and patient: Easy Pebble. Searching first: Bull Chopper.
2. Saltiga Paltier Jig Long – a “vanishing” slide
A thin, long lead jig for spinning or baitcasting tackle. Four weights from 150-220 g in seven colours – 28 items.
Specification
| Weight | Length (incl. eye) | List price (excl. tax) |
|---|---|---|
| 150 g | approx. 21.0 cm | 1,500 yen |
| 180 g | approx. 23.2 cm | 1,700 yen |
| 200 g | approx. 24.0 cm | 1,800 yen |
| 220 g | approx. 25.6 cm | 2,000 yen |
Colours: Three-Side Silver, Pink Head Silver, Glow Head Akakin Glow Berry, Sanma (Pacific saury), Glow Head Silver, Akakin Head and Glikin Head Glow Berry. The saury colour shows it is aimed at autumn-to-winter pelagics.
Features
- Thin body – low water resistance and a light pull, so it is easy to jerk.
- Two flat faces – after a jerk, even when you stop the line, it slides on with momentum and seems to vanish for a moment.
- Wings on both sides – change how it catches the water, producing random flashes and a tail-first fall.
The key trait is that sideways “slip and vanish” after the jerk. Pelagics react to bait that suddenly disappears and reappears – promising for pressured schools.
vs Shimano Ocea Stinger Butterfly Speed Slasher
The Speed Slasher is a slim long jig, slightly rear-weighted, designed for a fast fall: 189 mm at 150 g, 2,040 yen. The Paltier Jig Long is longer at about 21 cm for 150 g and works with slides and flashes. Fast current and you need to get down quickly: Speed Slasher. Slides to trigger bites: Paltier Jig Long.
3. Saltiga Flosser – new glow-tail colours
The Flosser is a popper for yellowtail amberjack, tuna and GT, developed by lure builder Ryota Segawa, for both rocks and boats. October brings two new colours in 170F and 200F: Clear Rame Glow Tail and Gunmetal Glow Tail.
Specification
| Model | Length | Weight | Hooks (treble / single) | Ring | List price (excl. tax) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 170F | 170 mm | 71 g | #2/0-3/0 / #5/0-7/0 | #7 | 3,000 yen |
| 170F-LI | 170 mm | 71 g | Same | #7 | 3,200 yen |
| 200F | 200 mm | 95 g (glow tail 98 g) | #4/0-5/0 / #7/0-9/0 | #8 | 3,200 yen |
| 200F-LI | 200 mm | 98 g | Same | #8 | 3,400 yen |
Features
- A cup deep at the top and shallow at the bottom – fine “super bubbles” and a popping sound.
- Tapered tail – less air resistance, longer casts.
- A raised back – keeps buoyancy while carrying more weight, so it flies stably in a crosswind.
- Does not dive too deep on the first jerk – responsive.
- On a straight retrieve it dives and wobbles like a minnow – usable like a diving pencil too.
- LI colours – Laser Impact for bait-like reflections and flicker.
Hook guide: treble 2/0 for shallow, quick reactions; treble 3/0 plus single 5/0 for big fish. Main line is PE 6, and it has also been tested on PE 8.
vs Shimano Ocea Bubble Dip 220F Flash Boost
The Bubble Dip 220F is a 220 mm / 93 g popper for yellowtail amberjack and tuna – the same class as the Flosser 200F (200 mm / 95 g). The Flosser’s strengths are the super bubbles from its cup and its versatility as a diving pencil; the Bubble Dip uses Flash Boost flicker. Bubbles to draw fish: Flosser. Light to show itself: Bubble Dip.
Which one?
- Blackthroat seaperch and bottom fish in semi-deep water – Bull Chopper
- Pressured schools of pelagics on the jig – Paltier Jig Long
- Casting for yellowtail amberjack and tuna – Flosser
Same brand, completely different fish and depths. Choose by what your boat is targeting.
Minagiman’s take: a dedicated answer for each style
What strikes me about these releases is that Saltiga is not making one lure for everything, but a dedicated design for each style: a semi-deep pilot jig, a long jig that shows itself with slides, and a popper that draws fish with bubbles. Each has a clear role.
The Bull Chopper’s “drop it first and read the situation” idea is especially rational for offshore jigging. Read the current and the response with a pilot jig, then switch to a specialist – that approach applies to any fishing. Prices are also accessible for Saltiga, so it is a lineup I can recommend to anyone starting offshore.
Summary
- Bull Chopper: 80-260 g semi-deep short jig, supervised by Kazunari Shimizu.
- Paltier Jig Long: 150-220 g thin long jig with a vanishing slide.
- Flosser: Ryota Segawa’s popper, now with glow-tail colours.
- All reasonably priced for Saltiga.
Autumn into winter is prime time offshore, for pelagics and semi-deep fish alike. Heading out on a boat with new lures is exciting in itself – check out the new Saltiga lures that suit your fishing.
