Daiwa Emeraldas X: A Budget Eging Rod with High-End Features

Daiwa’s Emeraldas is Japan’s best-known eging (squid jig) rod series, and the Emeraldas X is its affordable model — renewed for the first time in about four years. It borrows features from higher-end Emeraldas rods and is easy to use whatever your experience level. The highlight: the Air Sensor Seat from the top models.

Key features

Light, sensitive blank. A newly designed blank is crisp yet suitably supple; the slim profile cuts wind resistance and reduces fatigue over a full day of jerking. The 76UL-S and 79L-S use a Megatop tip.
Braiding X for strength. The outer layer of the butt section is bound with carbon tape in an X pattern to prevent power loss and keep the slim blank strong without feeling heavy — ready for autumn and the big spring squid season.

The tech

Air Sensor Seat: a carbon-fibre reel seat that is light, strong and sensitive, designed for each rod’s purpose.
Megatop: a solid tip much stronger than standard carbon solid, with excellent sensitivity, so you see tip movement and bites clearly.
Braiding X: X-wrapped carbon tape on the butt to prevent power loss while staying slim.
