What is Vanford?
Shimano’s Vanford is a series of high-performance spinning reels manufactured and sold by Shimano, known for their lightweight design and exceptional performance. Vanford reels are versatile, suitable for a wide range of fishing styles such as bass fishing and light saltwater game, and are highly favored by many anglers.
Key Changes in the 24 Vanford
The updates to the 24 Vanford include the introduction of InfinityCross and InfinityDrive. Additionally, new technologies seen in higher-end models, such as Anti-Twist Fin and DuraCross, have been generously incorporated.
Specifically, the inclusion of InfinityCross and InfinityDrive enhances gear durability and enables powerful reeling. Furthermore, the adoption of DuraCross has increased abrasion resistance by more than ten times, significantly improving the drag function.
In addition to these advancements, the well-regarded features of MagnumLight Rotor and MicroModule Gear II have been retained, maintaining the renowned lightness, responsiveness, and sensitivity while becoming even more robust and durable.
Moreover, the newly added Anti-Twist Fin improves overall comfort, making these upgrades highly appreciated by many anglers.
24 Vanford Design
When it comes to Vanford, the trademark ‘red’ was a distinctive feature. However, as you can see, the proportion of red in the new 24 Vanford has been significantly reduced.

Features of the 24 Vanford
As the core model of the MagnumLight series, which pursues lightness and reeling responsiveness, the Vanford excels in a wide range of fishing styles, including technical and finesse fishing. The new model retains the light and responsive handling, sensitivity, and smooth reeling feel of its predecessor while incorporating InfinityCross and InfinityDrive, which enhance powerful reeling and gear durability.
The adoption of DuraCross, with its excellent abrasion resistance, significantly improves drag durability by about ten times according to Shimano’s standards. Additionally, the newly integrated Anti-Twist Fin reduces line trouble, further enhancing comfort during use. The lineup of 13 items, including the newly introduced C2500SXG, covers a wide range of fishing styles, from area trout and bass fishing to eging, sea bass, and shore jigging, making it suitable for the new era of lure fishing.

The 24 Vanford uses a non-close winding structure but features the Anti-Twist Fin, similar to models like Stella, Vanquish, and Twin Power, which employ the close winding structure (InfinityLoop). Originally developed to reduce line trouble caused by the close winding structure, the Anti-Twist Fin, when combined with the non-close winding structure of the Vanford, effectively further reduces line trouble.
