Daiwa’s premium seabass series Morethan now includes baitcasting models. Three rods join the 26 line-up: the 93LMLB, 95MLMB and 104MB.

The three models

  • 93LMLB: for anglers who want to throw light lures and heavy ones. It has the finesse to pin-point light lures but can still handle 30 g-class lures.
  • 95MLMB: the core standard model — take just this one and you can enjoy most seabass fishing. A highly reliable all-rounder.
  • 104MB: for big water — rocks, wide beaches and large river mouths where distance matters most. Designed so anyone can use the blank’s rebound to cast far.

Less backlash by design

Many anglers fear backlash when casting heavy lures far on a baitcaster. If the rod is too stiff, or bends too much to use its rebound, backlash becomes more likely. These rods are designed so that, with lures within their spec, the blank’s rebound does the work — reducing backlash even when you are throwing heavy lures for distance.

Minagiman’s take

Baitcasting for seabass keeps growing in Japan, and Morethan finally has dedicated bait rods. Backlash is not only about reel settings — choosing a rod with the right stiffness for your lures makes a big difference. Pair them with the Morethan TW PE Special or Zillion TW 150 for a strong seabass setup.
