Daiwa Morethan SB Rodem R Blade TG: A Tungsten Blade Swimbait for Seabass

Soft swimbaits are great for tough days, but often lack casting distance and a bit of appeal. Distance has improved — some jigheads now cast nearly like metal jigs — but appeal has still been missing. Daiwa’s Morethan SB Rodem R Blade TG answers that by adding a blade to a tungsten jighead swimbait, so you can search wide water with both natural action and flash.

Key features

  1. Tungsten head for distance and sink speed. Tungsten is denser than lead, so the same weight gives a more compact silhouette. That means longer casts and a faster sink, so you can reach the bottom even in strong current.
  2. Natural action plus flash. The SB Rodem’s realistic jighead and the worm’s natural micro-vibration now come with a #2 Colorado blade that spins and reflects light over a wide area.
  3. One-touch body change and fewer tangles. An internal Insert Lock Unit (patent pending) lets you swap the worm body in one move even with the blade fitted, and locks the head and blade unit inside the worm so it does not slip during casts or fights. A Bottom Touch Sensor at the front improves bottom feel, and a rear hook holder reduces hook tangles on the cast and fall.

  • Count it down to fish near the bottom in fast current.
  • Switch to it when plugs are ignored but you still need to cover water.

Minagiman’s take

It covers most of a swimbait’s weaknesses — distance, sink speed and appeal — while keeping the natural action that makes soft baits work on tough days. It looks like a lure that will become a regular in the rotation. When the trebles wear out, upgrade them to keep your hook-up rate high.
